Magglio Ordonez Retirement: OF Honored By Tigers With Classy Retirement Ceremony

In a well-orchestrated event before the Detroit Tigers concluded their three-game series with New York on Sunday, six-time All-Star Magglio Ordonez was given the proper send-off with an extremely classy retirement ceremony.

In addition to a number of in-game clips flashed on the big screen, highlighted by none other than Ordonez's ALCS clinching home run against Oakland back in 2006, fans were presented with interviews from both current players and manager Jim Leyland about what Ordonez meant to the organization during his seven years with the Tigers.

Viewed as one of the most feared right-handed hitters and run producers during his prime (99-08), Ordonez recorded a .312 average in 847 career games with Detroit. He ended his MLB career as a .309 hitter, but fell just six home runs shy of 300 after struggling to make contact for much of his final season in 2011. Firmly entrenched in Detroit sports history for his massive blast back in 2006 though, Sunday's event was a well-deserved send-off for a man who had an extremely positive impact on Tiger baseball.
