Austin Jackson Activated From DL; Jhonny Peralta To Paternity List

Stay connected for news and updates

The Tigers will get one of their starters back on Saturday, but in what is beginning to feel like a sick joke, they will lose another:

Jackson is returning from what was originally diagnosed as a mild abdomen strain that was supposed to only limit his status to day-to-day. He ultimately wound up on the DL, though, before finally being able to take part in a couple rehab games the past couple days. Jackson was 1-for-8 with a walk and an unsuccessful steal attempt on his assignment, but most importantly, he feels healthy and ready to return to the big club.

As for Peralta, he shouldn't be gone long. His wife is expecting to give birth to their first child and he wants to be there for it. Understandable.

If shortstop Perez sees any action during Peralta's absence, he will be the 40th Tiger to see playing time this season and 21st position player.
