After missing the past two weeks while recovering from knee surgery, Detroit Lions defensive end Corey Williams is active and expected to play against the Chicago Bears on Monday night, although he won't start the game. The team's inactive list does include cornerbacks Jacob Lacey and Bill Bentley, leaving Detroit's secondary rather thin.
Out since Week 3 with the knee injury, Williams' return should bolster a pass rush that's currently just 20th in the NFL in sacks. In the first three games of this season, the 32-year-old recorded six tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble, although he was quiet in a 44-41 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Without Lacey (concussion) and Bentley (shoulder), the Lions are turning to rookie Jonte Green at cornerback on Monday night, according to Lions beat writer Tim Twentyman. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2012 draft out of New Mexico State.
As for the Bears, fullback Evan Rodriguez and cornerback Zach Bowman are among those active this week that didn't play against the Jaguars two weeks ago. Rodriguez has been dealing with a knee injury but appears good to go, while Bowman was signed recently due to the injury of cornerback Sherrick McManis.
