Week 9 NFL picks: Experts lean toward Lions over Jaguars

Al Messerschmidt

Coming off a quality win over the Seahawks, most experts see the Lions improving their record to .500 on Sunday by beating the Jaguars.

Facing a struggling Jacksonville Jaguars team, most experts see the Detroit Lions getting back to .500 with a victory this weekend. Jacksonville is 1-6 this season after losing its fourth straight game last Sunday to Green Bay, while Detroit has victories over the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks this month.

Over at CBS Sports, senior blogger Will Brinson sees the Lions losing to the Jaguars, but the other eight predictions are in favor of Detroit. The only Yahoo! Sports writer to put up his picks so far, Jason Cole, is picking a Jacksonville upset win, though.

Staying here at SB Nation, Joel Thorman picks the Lions to win 24-13, noting that, "All of the Lions losses this season have come by just one score. They're better than their 3-4 record indicates."

A win over the Jaguars would put the Lions at 4-4 going into the second portion of their schedule. Detroit will have to face a lot of good teams before the end of the season, though, including the Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals and two games against the Green Bay Packers.
