Lions vs. Jaguars score: Detroit maintains 21-0 after third quarter

The Detroit Lions are up big heading into the fourth quarter of their matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars in EverBank Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Lions used a big second quarter to build their lead, and the defense held throughout the third quarter.

Detroit came up with a couple of key turnovers to prevent Jacksonville from getting on the board. The first came as the Jaguars moved to midfield. Quarterback Blane Gabbert threw deep but was intercepted by safety Erik Coleman.

Jacksonville threatened again on its next possession, reaching the Lions' 26. Gabbert was intercepted a second time to end the drive, this time by cornerback Jonte Green.

Matthew Stafford has completed 19-of-28 passes for 246 yards. Calvin Johnson was shut out in the third quarter but still has six catches for 111 yards. Running back Mikel Leshoure has carried 15 times for 64 yards and three touchdowns. The Lions have the ball in Jaguars territory as the fourth quarter begins.

Lions vs. Jaguars score: Detroit dominates 2nd quarter, leads 21-0

The Detroit Lions got three second-quarter touchdowns to take a 21-0 halftime lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Lions have been dominant on both sides of the ball, and blew the game open in the last 15 minutes.

Detroit broke through on the scoreboard as they drove 91 yards to open the second quarter. Matthew Stafford hit Calvin Johnson for 26 yards to set Detroit up in Jaguars territory. Mikel Leshoure capped the drive off with a 7-yard touchdown run.

The Lions would build their lead on the next possession, as they were given good field position at their own 47. Stafford hit Johnson on another big play, this time a 38-yard strike, to put Detroit in position at the one-yard line. Johnson already has more than 100 yards on the day, and Stafford is past 200. Leshoure would get his second score of the next play.

Leshoure would get the hat trick, scoring his third touchdown right before the end of the first half. He finished a 10-play, 81-yard drive.

Jacksonville's offense has been stifled by the Lions. The Jaguars have just three first downs through two quarters, two of which came in a throwaway drive at the end of the second. They will try to get something going as they receive the ball to open the second half.

Lions vs. Jaguars score: Detroit and Jacksonville scoreless after 1st quarter

The Detroit Lions and the Jacksonville Jaguars have played to a scoreless tie after one quarter of football at EverBank Field on Sunday afternoon. Neither team has yet to move in the redzone, and Jacksonville has yet to achieve a first down.

Detroit had the best drive of the day so far, when the Lions moved 63 yards from their own eight to the Jaguars 29. The march ended when Jason Hanson hit the right upright on a 47-yard field goal attempt.

Matthew Stafford has racked up 103 yards passing on 8 of 15 attempts, but the team has yet to convert that yardage into points. Calvin Johnson has three catches for 43 yards.

The Lions are trying to make it two straight wins after pulling off a last-minute victory over the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday. Detroit can get to .500 at 4-4 if they are able to take down the Jaguars in Week 9.
