After trailing 10-0 at the end of the first quarter, the Lions cut Minnesota's lead to seven with a field goal in the second quarter. Minnesota, however, answered right back with a field goal on its next possession. There weren't very many possessions in the second quarter as both teams produced drives of at least 12 plays. Detroit's field goal drive covered 69 yards on 12 plays while Minnesota finished a 13-play 81 yard drive with a field goal.
The Lions got a break late in the first half as Minnesota's Antoine Winfield appeared to intercept a Matthew Stafford pass and return it for a touchdown, but the play was challenged and the ruling was reversed.
Stafford completed 12 of 20 passes for 97 yards in the first quarter while also throwing one interception. Calvin Johnson leads Detroit with four receptions for 36 yards. Mikel Leshoure was unable to get much going in the first half, rushing for 26 yards on 10 attempts.
Detroit will kickoff to begin the second half.
