The Detroit Lions defense has lost DT Corey Williams for at least one week due to knee surgery.

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Corey Williams has undergone knee surgery according to detroitlions.com's Tim Twentyman, and will miss the Lions' upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings. Williams is described as week-to-week, and may be back for the Lions first game after the bye week against the Eagles in Philadelphia. It's unclear what exact injury Williams was suffering from, but the week-to-week time frame indicates that it isn't a particularly serious condition.

Williams had started the first three games this season, racking up six tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble. Sammie Hill and Nick Fairley will see increased action next to Ndamukong Suh while Williams is out. The timing is challenging for the Lions, as they'll face a good rushing attack from the Vikings. Minnesota is currently averaging just over 121 rushing yards per game, good for ninth in the league. The Lions are 11th in the league in rushing defense, allowing just over 94 yards per game.
