Brady Hoke didn't consider replacing Russell Bellomy against Nebraska

With starting quarterback Denard Robinson forced to the sideline and his team unable to get anything going offensively, Michigan coach Brady Hoke told Kyle Meinke of MLive.com that he still did not consider pulling backup signal caller Russell Bellomy on Saturday against Nebraska.

A 6'3 freshman from the state of Texas, Bellomy was picked off on three separate occasions in Saturday's loss, and did not complete a single pass until his 11th throw of the day. The youngster finished a woeful 3-for-16 for 38 yards on the day as a passer, and managed exactly zero yards on five carries despite reeling off a career-high 15-yard run. Despite the performance however, Hoke still believes that his freshman did a good job of dealing with the adversity of playing in a tough environment.

"He seemed like he was pretty good," Hoke said when asked about Bellomy's composure level. "I mean, Russ is a very competitive ... he really wants to do well, studies, he does all the things a quarterback should do. He's going to be fine."

Michigan's only other quarterback available to play against Nebraska was walk-on Jack Kennedy, an inexperienced youngster who has never once suited up for a college game. With Robinson's timetable uncertain at the moment, Hoke may very well be forced to use Bellomy in a starting role going forward with Michigan's Big Ten title hopes hanging in the balance.
