Denard Robinson injury: Backups to take more snaps in practice as precaution

Denard Robinson is still expected to start on Saturday against Minnesota, but backups Russell Bellomy and Devin Gardner are seeing increased snaps in practice this week as a precaution.

In the wake of Denard Robinson's elbow injury in the Michigan Wolverines' loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday, backups Russell Bellomy and Devin Gardner are receiving more snaps in practice this week. Robinson is expected to practice all week, according to head coach Brady Hoke, and is still expected to start on Saturday when the Wolverines take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers. However, the team is taking precautions in case he can't play by giving Bellomy and Gardner more practice time.

Robinson injured the ulnar nerve in his throwing elbow, which caused numbness and tingling in his arm and hand. He tried to come back and play in the second half, but couldn't get a good enough grip on the ball. Bellomy came in for Robinson, and looked quite poor, going 3-16 passing with three interceptions. Gardner was the backup quarterback last year, but moved to wide receiver for this season.
