After dropping two straight games to top ten teams and still searching for their first win of the season, the Michigan State Spartans jumped ahead to a serious lead over the Texas Southern Tigers on Saturday. At the end of the first half, Michigan State had a 32-12 lead and would not let up the pressure one bit through the remainder of the game. Texas Southern fared a little better in the second half, able to put up 29 points, but MSU retaliated with 44 of their own in the second, eventually lifting themselves up to a 76-41 win, their first of the season.
It was Michigan State's first home game of the season, so they're currently 1-2 overall, with a 1-0 record on the road. Michigan State fielded a very balanced and aggressive attack, with Draymond Green leading the way. Green had 12 points and 11 rebounds, with five assists and three steals. For Texas Southern, Lawrence Johnson-Danner had 10 points and seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.
On Sunday, Michigan State will take on the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans.
