Minnesota has been in the midst of a lost season for some time, but after last week's upset 22-21 victory over Iowa they bring a renewed confidence to East Lansing to face Michigan State on Saturday. The Golden Gophers hope to take advantage of a struggling Michigan State offense that only scored three points last week against Nebraska. The Only Colors states that the Spartans cannot afford to overlook Minnesota:
Redshirt senior Duane Bennett (5'9", 205) gets the majority of carries at running back, and averaging 4.1 yards a carry on 100 rushes this season, he's been a serviceable back. Redshirt freshman Donnell Kirkwood (5'10", 215) spells Bennett, and he averages 3.7 yards a carry.
The Daily Gopher has renewed confidence this week, especially in quarterback MarQueis Gray who led last week's come from behind victory over Iowa:
And then the fourth quarter is where he proved his mettle as a leader of the offense getting the rest of the guys to do something that hasn't been done by a Gopher offense in a while. Down 11 points in the fourth quarter Gray led the following two touchdown drives for touchdowns.
