Michigan State's Delvon Roe Retires Due To Knee Pain

Michigan State basketball player Delvon Roe has announced his retirement due to persistent knee pain.

Michigan State forward Delvon Roe announced his retirement from the game of basketball on Thursday afternoon. After dealing with knee injuries throughout the last few years, Roe decided that it was best for him to end his career. Here's what Roe had to say about the decision:

"This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make. It feels that I've been playing through pain throughout my career at MSU, but the daily grind of basketball - the running, cutting, jumping - has finally taken its toll given the intensity required to play at our level. I started playing basketball because I loved the game, but the pain has taken that away and forced me to always think about just getting through the next few minutes or the next game. I don't want to just `get through' anymore. I've played on a leg and a half for most of my career, and that's not fair to my teammates as they go through the daily grind."

Roe went on to say that he will always be a Spartan and his goal is to walk across the court on senior night to kiss the Spartan logo. He will remain on scholarship and travel with the team as often as he desires. Although he won't be able to play on the court with the Spartans, you can bet he will be a common face around the program.

Although Roe's basketball career is over, his acting career is just getting started. The great thing about Roe is he didn't put all his eggs in one basket with basketball and has created a number of opportunities off the court. His future is bright, and I doubt this is the last you will hear from him. He won't make headlines for his play on the court, but it's only a matter of time until you see him on the big screen.
