2012 Senior Bowl: Kirk Cousins Throws Touchdown Pass In North's 23-13 Win

Saturday was the 2012 Senior Bowl where the best seniors from around the country lined up North vs. South and received one last showcase for NFL scouts before the combine and the draft.

As we told you earlier, three Michigan State Spartans -- Kirk Cousins, Trenton Robinson, and Brian Linthicum -- and one Michigan Wolverine -- Mike Martin -- participated in the game as teammates on the North squad. Their team would beat the South, 23-13.

The North never trailed after taking a 3-0 lead in the first quarter after Michigan State's Trenton Robinson recovered a fumble in South territory on the third play. The North's first play from scrimmage then went to MSU's tight end Brian Linthicum for nine yards, which turned out to be his only catch of the game.

Kirk Cousins quarterbacked the North at the end of the first half and to begin the second half (as well as a possession later in the second half), but did not look sharp, finishing just 5-of-11 with an interception and a touchdown. After throwing the interception near the end of the first half, he connected with Gerrell Robinson for a 41 yard touchdown to give the North a 20-6 lead in the third quarter. He finished with 115 yards.

Trenton Robinson had two tackles in addition to his fumble recovery. Michigan's Mike Martin had three total tackles.

2012 Senior Bowl Uniforms: Players Will Be Wearing Slick-Looking Nike Apparel

The 2012 Senior Bowl takes place on Saturday at 4 p.m. wherein the best seniors from around the country will be taking the field in a battle of North v. South in front of NFL scouts. If the players want to impress the NFL shadows, they'll need to play well on the field and it won't hurt that they will be dressed for success in comfortable, slick-looking Nike duds:

The fully integrated uniform system incorporates the latest in performance innovation and design from the world's most renowned athletic outfitter. The redesigned base layer facilitates the uniform's overall innovation, delivering the ultimate in lightweight protection for maximum speed. Strategically placed seams, pads and cooling zones also help minimize distraction and optimize protective coverage.

The uniform delivers lightweight performance and protection as well as enhanced durability and innovation from the inside out. Robust padding without the bulk offers optimal low-profile impact protection specifically throughout the crucial "hit zone" between the knees and shoulders. Padding has also been integrated in the hip and knee areas of the pant for crucial impact protection that stays in place.

The uniform system design also emphasizes improved thermoregulation using fabric selected for its ability to help keep the body cool and wick away sweat – making the uniform, and player, lighter and dryer. The zoned ventilation panels within the jersey and pant are made of four-way stretch mesh that sheds moisture.

NFL Network analyst and former NFL wide receiver Torry Holt is impressed with them and said that the uniforms are "nice uniforms to get busy in right quick." Here's a picture courtesy of JaguarsInsider:

Michigan's Mike Martin Making Impression At Senior Bowl Practices

Michigan defensive tackle Mike Martin has been making quite an impression during practices for the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. this week. And he may be taking out some aggression on some former conference opponents, as well.

As noted by Mike Tanier, writing for Yahoo's Shutdown Corner, Martin and Ohio State center Tim Brewster got into "a brief shoving match" during drills on Tuesday.

"He's one of my best competitors," Brewster said after practice. "I love going against him."

Neither player appears ready to let their school rivalry go. Sports Illustrated's Tony Pauline also noted how hard Martin and Brewster had been going at each other in practice.

Earlier in his running diary, Pauline highlighted Martin as "impossible to stop" and "a disruptive force." Penn State's Johnnie Troutman was another Big Ten lineman who ended up as roadkill underneath the Martin express.
