Michigan State came into National Signing Day with 18 commitments for its 2012 football recruiting class and was hoping to finish the day with a class of 20 or so recruits. That is not going to happen, though. The Spartans were finalists for four recruits who were undecided going into Wednesday, but all of them signed elsewhere. What's more, wide receiver commit Monty Madaris has not yet signed with Michigan State, and it's unclear what exactly is the cause for the delay.
With no new commits being added and Madaris not yet signing his letter of intent, Michigan State's official announcement about its 2012 football recruiting class included only 17 recruits. They are listed below.
UPDATE: Madaris sent in his letter of intent to Michigan State on Thursday morning.

If Madaris does in fact sign with Michigan State, chances are the Spartans' 2012 class will be finalized at 18 commits. If he decides to go elsewhere, however, then the Spartans will likely finish with those 17 recruits for 2012.
SB Nation Detroit will have updates on the Madaris situation as they become available.
