College Basketball Rankings: Wolverines, Spartans Falling In Coaches Poll

Feb 6, 2012 - In the latest USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, there's few changes up in the top five, but the rest of the list is seeing some major changes. While Kentucky, Syracuse, Ohio State and Missouri occupy the same spots in the top four, there's some changes just below. Duke dropped out of the top five to the bottom of the top ten at No. 9, while North Carolina moved up to No. 5 from its No. 6 tie with Baylor, where they remain. Florida and Murray State moved from 11 and 9 respectively to hold a No. 7 tie, while Kansas rounds out the top ten.

Michigan State finds themselves falling, down two spots from No. 10 to No. 12, following a loss to Illinois on Jan. 31. They did pick up a win in their last outing, a 64-54 win over the rival Michigan, but it's not enough to prevent them from falling, going 3-3 over their last six games.

The Wolverines are falling even further, dropping from No. 22 down past Wisconsin, Indiana and Louisville to sit at No. 25, just barely making the list. The aforementioned Indiana and Louisville are sitting in a tie for No. 23. Michigan's last eight games have been alternating wins and losses, with their most recent game being a loss to Michigan State. They've got an easier schedule going forward, but that also means they'll be hard-pressed to rocket back up the rankings, outside of a mid-February showdown with the Buckeyes.
