Aaron Burbridge Injury: Michigan State WR Out 6 Weeks

Highly touted Michigan State freshman receiver Aaron Burbridge will miss at least the next six weeks after having his knee scoped just a week into fall camp. MSU has a lot of pressure this season to build on the successes of the past two years, complicated by questions at receiver and and a new quarterback under center after the graduation of Kirk Cousins.

Burbridge came to MSU as the highest-rated prospect in the state, yet lasted just one practice before being sidelined with an undisclosed injury. While coach Mark Dantanio refused to divulge the nature of the injury, it was confirmed today that Burbridge had injured the knee before arriving in East Lansing.

"Obviously we had high hopes for Aaron," Spartans' offensive coordinator Dan Roushar said Wednesday. " ... (It) became more apparent to us that he had a problem. They scoped him, cleaned him up. They say six weeks, that's a long ways out for a wide receiver, particularly not getting the reps right now and learning the system."

With Monty Madaris also injured with a high-ankle sprain, the Spartans are facing a short-term future without either of their star recruits at wideout. Now questions persist over either's ability to contribute this season at all.
