Michigan State's Lawrence Thomas recovering from another concussion

Michigan State fullback Lawrence Thomas could still play against Iowa on Saturday despite suffering his second concussion of the fall.

Though he's hoping to suit up on Saturday against Iowa, Michigan State fullback Lawrence Thomas suffered a concussion in his team's win over Indiana, according to a report from Josh Slatger of MLive.com.

The head injury was the redshirt freshman's second concussion of the fall, and comes at a time when Thomas has been trying to make an impact in coordinator Dan Roushar's offense as both a fullback and a tight end. Even though Thomas' concussion was labeled as minor, the fact that he's been slowed in practice casts doubt on whether he can step in for injured tight end Dion Sims on the outside against the Hawkeyes.

Roushar is optimistic that he'll have the 6'3, 295-pound Thomas back on the field in some capacity this weekend, but he still isn't quite sure how things will play out in the coming days. "He was very limited [Tuesday] with what we could do with him," Roushar said. "He's had some reps [at tight end] the last couple weeks. If you're making that kind of move, you have to practice it. It's something that will have to be brought along."
