Michigan State faces a tough matchup against rival Michigan on Saturday, and they could be without one of their top receiving targets in tight end Dion Sims. According to Diamond Leung of MLive.com, Sims was not listed on the team's official depth chart for the game, which makes it seem unlikely that he'll be available for the Spartans as they look to keep their season alive.
Sims is dealing with a sprained ankle, and missed last week's game against Iowa, which resulted in a 19-16 loss in overtime, dropping the Spartans to 4-3 on the season. They can ill-afford to lose another game, so possibly being without Sims is definitely not a good sign.
According to the report, coach Mark Dantonio said that Sims has not practiced, but didn't rule him out for the game. More on Sim's status will be known nearer the end of the week. Sims has 24 catches for 313 yards and a pair of touchdowns this season. Paul Lang made the start in his absence last week and had just one catch for 2 yards.
