The nation's No. 2 recruit plans on announcing where he'll go to school next Thursday. Michigan State may be the choice, too, according to the player's father.
Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) forward Jabari Parker will announce his college choice next Thursday afternoon, USA Today's Jim Halley reports. Rated the No. 2 recruit in the 2013 class, Parker has been heavily recruited for years, and his father, Sonny Parker, says, "he just wants to get this out of his way."
Parker has publicly narrowed his possible schools to Duke, Michigan State, Stanford, BYU and Florida, but his father says he doesn't know where he'll ultimately choose to go.
"He hasn't told me where. I didn't ask him... He keeps things to himself, so I don't put any pressure on him," the elder Parker said. "I think it will probably be be between Duke and Michigan State. That's what I'm thinking."
The Spartans and Blue Devils are coached by two of the biggest figures in all of college basketball, Tom Izzo and Mike Krzyzewski, respectively. Considering that they routinely bring in top talent and compete with the nation's best programs, it'll be interesting to see whether he ultimately chooses to go to the Big Ten, ACC or even somewhere else.
