Denard Robinson Expected To Play At Penn State, Other Injury News

Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson should be good to go when the Wolverines take on Penn State next Saturday, according to head coach Rich Rodriguez.

Rodriguez revealed that Robinson has some sort of a sprain in his rotator cuff, but said the speedy signal-caller could play this weekend if Michigan had a game.

"If we had a game, he could probably play Saturday," Rodriguez said, who said he expects Robinson to practice Wednesday. He landed on awkwardly on his shoulder Saturday in Michigan’s 38-28 loss to Iowa and sat out most of the second half. Rodriguez is optimistic Robinson will be back by Oct. 30, when Michigan is at Penn State for an 8 p.m. (ABC, ESPN or ESPN2).

"More of a sprain," Rodriguez said. "Something in his rotator cuff that when you fall on it, it’s aggravated or sore."

Other banged up Wolverines will make good use of the bye to be back in time for Penn State. Nose tackle Mike Martin and center David Molk are expected to be fine after suffering ankle injuries, while running back Michael Shaw should be back from a sprained knee. Running back Fitzgerald Toussaint is also expected to practice this week.

News was not so good for wide receiver Martavious Odoms, however. Odoms had surgery on his broken foot and will be out indefinitely. Odoms suffered the injury against Michigan State and may not return, at least in the regular season.
