Michigan picked up commitments from two players who attend Cass Tech High School on Saturday. Offensive guard David Dawson committed during his official visit, while safety Delano Hill committed after just picking up an offer from Michigan earlier in the week.
Dawson is already a familiar name to Michigan fans, as he had been committed before. He originally committed to Michigan back in February, but he was dropped in October after expressing a desire to take visits elsewhere. Recently, Dawson was reoffered by Michigan, and he rejoined the class on Saturday. This is big for the Wolverines, as Dawson is a consensus four-star recruit with an impressive offer list.
Hill, Dawson's high school teammate, was originally committed to Iowa, but he switched to Michigan after being offered by the Wolverines. He is a four-star recruit on most of the major recruiting sites, and he holds offers from Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Pittsburgh and Syracuse, according to Rivals.

Former Michigan Wolverines football recruit Gareon Conley has reportedly committed to joining the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Continue
For months, speculation surrounded the recruitment of Ohio cornerback Gareon Conley. He committed to Michigan way back in March, but there were plenty of rumors in recent months about him planning to take visits elsewhere, which would violate Brady Hoke's policy for commitments. Basically, it looked like Conley would eventually end up no longer being a commit to Michigan, and the situation finally came to a head on Tuesday with Conley decommitting.
BREAKING: Gareon Conley confirms to me he has de-committed from #Michigan. Will take an official to #OhioState.
— Miles 11W (@Miles11W) November 27, 2012
Conley's decommitment comes as no surprise, and it leaves Michigan with 22 commits for 2013. The good news for Michigan is that it has several other defensive backs committed for its 2013 class, but it certainly would sting to see Conley wind up at Ohio State.
Below is an updated look at Michigan's 2013 class.

Michigan added a new commitment to its 2013 football recruiting class on Wednesday. Former Central Michigan commit Da'Mario Jones, a wide receiver from Westland, Michigan, committed to the Wolverines. He is Michigan's 23rd commitment for 2013, although with many expecting Gareon Conley to exit the class soon to take visits elsewhere, Jones may end up being the 22nd commit before too long.
As evidenced by the fact that he was committed to Central Michigan, Jones isn't exactly a big-time recruit. He is unrated on Rivals and Scout, and he has three stars on 24/7 Sports and ESPN. The former ranks him 19th in the state of Michigan and 152nd at wide receiver.
Jones committed right after he picked up an offer from Michigan. His other offers, according to 24/7 Sports, are from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, New Mexico and Ohio.

Last weekend, Michigan's 2013 football recruiting class shrunk from 23 commits to 22. This is because David Dawson, an offensive guard from Detroit Cass Tech, is no longer considered a Michigan commitment.
Dawson had expressed interest in visiting other schools in the past, which would have cost him his scholarship offer, but he never actually took any other visits. Last weekend, however, he informed Michigan coaches that he had scheduled a visit to Florida, according to the Detroit Free Press. Michigan's coaches, which have a strict no-visit policy for commits, reacted by pulling Dawson's scholarship offer and removing him from their 2013 class. Cass Tech coach Thomas Wilcher provided details on what happened.
"He told Michigan that he was going to visit Florida this weekend, and they told him that would mean he lost his scholarship offer," Cass Tech head coach Thomas Wilcher explained. "They explained that it was his choice [to visit Florida], but they were going to have him [decommit]."
With Dawson out of the picture and unlikely to enter back into it, Michigan is exploring other options to add another offensive lineman to its 2013 class. Having to part ways with a four-star recruit like Dawson certainly stings, but the good news for the Wolverines is that they have plenty of time to fill his spot. It also helps that they already have a very strong group of offensive linemen committed for 2013.

The crowning jewel of Michigan football's 2013 signing class, five-star prep quarterback Shane Morris, was hospitalized for mononucleosis on Wednesday, according to a report by Tom VanHaaren of ESPN.com.
Morris was taken to a local hospital and is expected to stay the night for observation, but now faces an uncertain timetable with just five games remaining on his high school team's regular season schedule. Expected to be weakened physically for at least one month due to the virus, Morris told VanHaaren that he "has no clue" about whether he'll be able to suit up again in 2012.
While recovering from his illness, the 6'3, 190-pound Warren, Michigan native has curiously decided to completely ignore distractions like social media during his day-to-day routine. And as many of his thousands of Twitter followers have already found out, Morris's personal account will be no longer available. "I just suspended it," Morris said. "I need to rest while I have mono and I didn't want anything distracting me. I'll be back on."

With the high school football season set to begin this week across the nation (if it hasn't already in some states), Rivals released updated recruiting rankings on Monday. Several of Michigan's commits in the top 100 were actually dropped, but quarterback Shane Morris moved up from 22nd to 17th. While five spots may not seem like a huge jump, the move up took him from having four stars to being a five-star recruit.
Here's the full rundown of where Michigan's commits moved in the top 100 (via AnnArbor.com):

The Michigan football program had a big recruiting weekend. They did not add any new commits, but they hosted quite a few recruits for 2013 and beyond for their annual BBQ at the Big House. The event brought a lot of their current commits together, and it also brought a lot of potential commits to Ann Arbor.
One potential commit who visited was running back Derrick Green. He is considered the No. 1 running back in the nation for 2013 by Rivals, and many believed he was going to commit to Michigan during his weekend visit. The visit came right after Ohio State ran out of room for him, so the stars seemed to be aligning for the Wolverines.
While Green very well may end up committing to Michigan at some point, he didn't during his visit.
From @BrOoKyLn_boii27: "I didn't commit"
— Sam Webb (@SamWebb77) July 29, 2012
Green certainly seemed to have a good time, and according to many reports, he came close to pulling the trigger on a commitment. For now, though, his recruitment continues with him deciding against committing over the weekend.
Michigan has two spots left for 2013, and if everything goes according to plan, Green and wide receiver Laquon Treadwell will fill them. They are both highly regarded recruits, and adding even one of them would be a nice way to finish the '13 class. If Michigan is able to land both, there's a very good chance the Wolverines could end up finishing with the No. 1 class in the nation despite nearly being full seven months before signing day.

Just one day after decommitting from Penn State, Ohio cornerback Ross Douglas has committed to Michigan. Douglas departed the Nittany Lions' recruiting class on Monday morning. Sanctions for Penn State's football program were announced on Monday morning by the NCAA, and Douglas wasted little time in reopening his recruitment.
Douglas also wasted little time in finding a new school. He was reoffered by Michigan on Tuesday morning (he had an offer from Michigan before committing to Penn State), and only a couple hours later he decided to commit to the Wolverines.
Just committed to Michigan!!!! #GoBlue
— Ross Douglas (@RDouglas_21) July 24, 2012
Douglas is a four-star recruit on Rivals, 24/7 Sports and ESPN. Scout lists him as a three-star recruit. On Rivals, he is ranked 22nd at his position, 15th in the state of Ohio and 222nd in the nation.
According to Rivals, Douglas holds offers from Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn State, Mississippi, Louisville, Maryland, Minnesota, Purdue and Tennessee, among other schools.
With Douglas committing, Michigan now has 23 players in its 2013 recruiting class. This means there are only a couple more spots at the most left. Considering it's only July, Michigan has plenty of time to fill those final spots.

Last week, it looked like the Michigan Wolverines were going to pick up another commitment for their 2013 football recruiting class. Illinois wide receiver Laquon Treadwell hinted that he might be nearing a decision, and that decision was pretty clearly going to be Michigan.
Although Treadwell passed on making a decision over the weekend, Michigan is still the overwhelming favorite to eventually land him. This past weekend, Treadwell told Mike Farrell that there's a 75 percent chance of him committing to the Wolverines, and he told SB Nation that Michigan feels like "home" to him.
"They're not wrong," Treadwell said of those who say his commitment to Michigan is inevitable. "But I won't know for sure until I take other visits."
Treadwell feels at home at Michigan, stating that "Michigan is Michigan. I've been up there like eight times, and the coaching staff has been on me since my sophomore year. I feel comfortable with them, like home.
Michigan has long been considered the favorite for Treadwell. Barring something radically changing when Treadwell visits other schools, chances are he will join the Wolverines' 2013 recruiting class at some point.

It's still only June and Michigan is now up to 22 commits for its 2013 football recruiting class. The latest player to join the class is North Carolina athlete Channing Stribling, who committed on Thursday morning. He just picked up an offer on Wednesday after performing well at Michigan's camp, and now he is commit No. 22 for the Wolverines.
Stribling is an under the radar type of player, as evidenced by the fact that he is unrated on Rivals. On Scout, he is a two-star recruit, and he has three stars on 24/7 Sports.
According to 24/7 Sports, Stribling only has offers from Michigan, Ball State, North Carolina State and a couple FCS schools.
As reported by Tremendous, Michigan is recruiting Stribling as a cornerback. This means he is the third cornerback to commit for 2013. Jourdan Lewis and Gareon Conley are the others, meaning Michigan very well may be done at the position unless a five-star recruit like Kendall Fuller ends up choosing the Wolverines. In general, Michigan is close to having a full class, which is pretty amazing considering it is only June.

It's only June, but Michigan's 2013 football recruiting class is well on its way to being at the top of the team rankings come signing day next February. Currently, Michigan has the No. 1 class in the nation for 2013 on three of the four major recruiting sites.
ESPN's first team rankings for 2013 were just released last week. Despite not having any five-star recruits on ESPN, Michigan has the top class in the nation. This is mainly because of Michigan's 21 commits, 16 of them have four stars. The strong number of four-star recruits has Michigan ranked ahead of No. 2 Florida and No. 3 Alabama.
The Rivals rankings are pretty similar. Michigan has zero five-star recruits, but 14 of the Wolverines' commits have four stars. This has Michigan No. 1 in the team rankings. Georgia is No. 2 and Alabama is once again No. 3.
Scout also has Michigan No. 1 and Georgia No. 2. (Texas is third.) Unlike ESPN and Rivals, a big part of this is due to the fact that Scout has three of Michigan's commits rated as five-star recruits. 14 more are rated as four stars, giving them a total of 17 commits with at least four stars.
The lone major recruiting site without Michigan at No. 1 is 24/7 Sports. The Wolverines are second behind Alabama despite the fact that 17 Wolverines commits have four stars. Alabama only has 11 commits with four stars, but two commits have five stars. As a result, the Crimson Tide currently have a slight edge over the Wolverines in 24/7 Sports' rankings formula.
With Michigan's class nearly full, there shouldn't be too many drastic changes to the list of commits from now until signing day. This means Michigan will have to fend off other teams from taking the top spot without the ability to add a ton of guys late in the process. This is a good thing, though. Michigan has already built a solid class very early in the recruiting process. In fact, based on Rivals' point totals, Michigan's class for 2013 is already good enough that it would have finished second in 2012. Considering there is still room for a few more talented recruits, Michigan is in great shape.

Michigan has surprisingly added Scott Sypniewski to its 2013 football recruiting class. Why is this so surprising? Sypniewski is a long snapper, and he is going to be on a full scholarship, according to Chris Rubio, who runs Rubio Long Snapping.
Long time Rubio Long Snapper Scott Sypniewski (IL, '13) has committed on full scholarship to #Michigan! tinyurl.com/75shw9c #Wolverines
— Rubio Long Snapping (@TheChrisRubio) June 6, 2012
Rubio's site ranks Sypniewski, who is from Illinois, as the second best long snapper in the 2013 class. Even so, it's pretty puzzling that Michigan has extended a full scholarship offer to him. Long snappers are certainly important on special teams, but Michigan has limited space as is with there already being 20 other commits for 2013. To give one of those final spots to a long snapper is odd, to say the least.
In any case, Sypniewski is commit No. 21 for Michigan for the class of 2013.

California safety Su'a Cravens committed to USC on Wednesday. This comes as no surprise, as speculation had suggested for a while now that he would ultimately end up joining the Trojans' recruiting class. On Wednesday, he did by picking USC over Michigan and Ohio State.
The interesting thing is that although he just picked USC, Cravens still plans to take visits to other schools, including Michigan.
Cravens says he will still visit Michigan, Ohio State, maybe Florida. Interesting.
— Steve Lorenz (@TremendousUM) June 6, 2012
Interesting is right. Although Michigan failed to land him on Wednesday, the fact that he still plans to visit at least gives the Wolverines a chance to make him reconsider down the road. It remains to be seen if he will actually end up going through with the visits, but if he does, you never know what might happen once he makes it to campus.

UPDATE: As expected, Cravens has committed to USC.
--
Michigan has added two highly regarded defensive recruits to its 2013 football recruiting class in the last few days, and it has a chance to add another one on Wednesday. At 2:30 p.m. ET, safety Su'a Cravens is going to announce his decision, and the Wolverines are among his four finalists. Also on the list of finalists are Ohio State, UCLA and USC.
Cravens had planned on visiting Michigan this month in advance of Wednesday's announcement. He had also planned on making an unofficial trip to Nebraska, but both visits were canceled. As a result, it's pretty clear that USC is the favorite to land Cravens, and it would be a big-time upset if Michigan somehow ended up getting his commitment. Cravens would be a nice addition to Michigan's class, as he is a five-star recruit and one of the top safeties in the nation, but it's highly unlikely he will pick a school other than the Trojans.
In other (and more promising) recruiting news, Michigan has made the top three for safety Leon McQuay III, who is a four-star recruit from Florida. Vanderbilt and USC are the other two schools at the top of McQuay's list, and he is planning to announce his decision on Nov. 21.
Michigan also appears to have made running back Jordan Wilkins' final list. He posted a tweet on Monday mentioning Auburn, Michigan, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, and he's planning to visit Ann Arbor this weekend. This visit comes after he nearly committed to Auburn following an unofficial visit, so it's big for Michigan that he is planning to check out its campus before making a decision.

It has been a good few days for Michigan's 2013 football recruiting class. On Saturday, the Wolverines added defensive tackle Maurice Hurst Jr., and they also added defensive tackle Henry Poggi. Poggi, as expected, announced the news on Monday morning. He picked Michigan over Alabama, giving the Wolverines a nice win on the recruiting trail against the team they will open the 2012 season against on Sept. 1.
Poggi is a consensus four-star defensive tackle from Baltimore, Maryland. Rivals ranks him second at his position and 52nd in the nation. The other sites aren't quite that high on him, but all of them give him four stars.
Poggi's offer list is quite impressive. In addition to receiving offers from Michigan and Alabama, Rivals reports that he has offers from Auburn, California, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC and Wisconsin, among many others.
Poggi is Michigan's 20th commitment for 2013. The full list of commits is below.

UPDATE: Poggi has committed to Michigan.
--
On Saturday, Michigan picked up a commitment from defensive tackle Maurice Hurst Jr. He may not be the only defensive tackle to join the Wolverines' 2013 class, though. On Monday morning, defensive tackle Henry Poggi is going to announce his decision, and Michigan has made his top two, along with Alabama.
Although nothing has been announced yet, things look promising with Poggi for Michigan. Shortly after Hurst Jr. committed, he said that the Wolverines should be on commit watch. There were several other reports of Michigan potentially adding commit No. 20, and with Poggi's announcement coming up on Monday, it's not tough to connect the dots.
More signs that Poggi will select Michigan come from 24/7 Sports' JC Shurburtt. He predicts that Michigan will land Poggi, and he tweeted this on Sunday:
Heard tonight #Bama hasn’t given up on Henry Poggi.
— JC Shurburtt (@jcshurburtt) June 4, 2012
If Alabama were Poggi's leader, they wouldn't be in a position to give up on landing him. What this means is that it appears Michigan is out in front, and barring a change of heart, it appears Poggi will be another four-star recruit to join the Wolverines' 2013 class. We will find out for sure on Monday morning.

Maurice Hurst Jr., a defensive tackle from Massachusetts, became Michigan's 19th commitment for the class of 2013 on Saturday. Reports surfaced Saturday afternoon that he had decided on the Wolverines, and he confirmed them by announcing his decision on Twitter.
Committed to play football at the University of Michigan!!! #TEAM134 @D3_MrUnderated_ @S_Morris12 @WyattShallman @K_HILL_32 @LoganTillman
— Maurice R. Hurst (@MRH_11) June 2, 2012
Interestingly, his decision to commit to Michigan came right after he visited a rival school, as Tom VanHaaren reported on Saturday.
Talk about head to head, Maurice Hurst chose Michigan today after visiting MSU yesterday.
— Tom VanHaaren (@TomVH) June 2, 2012
This is a big win for Michigan, and not just because it beat out some rivals for Hurst Jr. He is a three-star recruit on Rivals and ESPN and has four stars on Scout and 24/7 Sports. He is actually ranked 19th at his position and first in the state of Massachusetts on 24/7 Sports, so he is certainly a welcomed addition to the class.
According to Rivals, Hurst Jr. picked Michigan over offers from the likes of Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Rutgers, North Carolina, Nebraska, Missouri and Maryland, among others.

One of Michigan's top targets in the class of 2013 committed on Tuesday, but not to the Wolverines. Illinois running back Ty Isaac had Michigan among his finalists, but he decided to commit to USC. He announced the decision on Twitter.
Committed to The University of Southern California
— Ty Isaac (@TyIsaac) May 15, 2012
Isaac visited USC earlier this month and was basically down to the Trojans and Wolverines. His timetable for a decision changed quite a bit following the visit, and now he is set to join USC next year.
Michigan has already received commitments from running backs Wyatt Shallman and Deveon Smith for 2013. Adding Isaac would have really been nice, but now Michigan will likely take a look at running backs like Derrick Green and Jordan Wilkins as it tries to solidify the position for next year's recruiting class.

Michigan added its 18th commit for 2013 on Wednesday. Wide receiver Csont'e York, who is from Harper Woods and picked up an offer from the Wolverines on Tuesday, committed to them on Wednesday, as reported first by Allen Trieu.
York is unranked on Rivals, but he has three stars on Scout and 24/7 Sports. Scout ranks him 67th at wide receiver, whereas 24/7 Sports has him 69th. In the state of Michigan, York is ranked ninth by 24/7 Sports.
Currently, York's offer list isn't all that big. In addition to Michigan, York only holds offers from Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Syracuse and Toledo. He has been performing well at camps as of late, though, which is what led to his offer from Michigan.
York is Michigan's second wide receiver commit for 2013. Jaron Dukes is the other, and he committed back in February.

Scout.com released its first team recruiting rankings for 2013 on Monday. Unsurprisingly, the Michigan Wolverines came in at No. 1 on the list, beating out the likes of Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Notre Dame.
The reason this isn't a big surprise is because most of Michigan's 2013 commits have at least four stars on Scout. Right now, Michigan has 17 players committed for next year's class. Three of the commits are five-star recruits on Scout: offensive guard Patrick Kugler (No. 1 at his position), quarterback Shane Morris (No. 3 at his position) and safety Dymonte Thomas (No. 5 at his position). 12 more of the commits are four-star recruits, and only two have three stars.
Other Big Ten teams included in the top 20 of the rankings are Ohio State (fourth), Penn State (12th), Nebraska (17th) and Michigan State (20th).

Michigan was hoping to add another four-star linebacker to its 2013 recruiting class on Tuesday. E.J. Levenberry was down to the Wolverines and Florida State, but he ultimately opted for the Seminoles. Levenberry explained the decision to Rivals.com.
"I didn't know I would fit in so well with everyone, players and students. I just felt so comfortable," he said. "I've visited FSU two times before, but that was just the coaches or a game. This time I got to meet everybody and see what a whole week was like and I loved it."
Levenberry was just in Ann Arbor earlier this month to visit for the spring game. It seemed to go well by all accounts, but not well enough for Michigan to overtake Florida State in the race for his services.
With Levenberry passing on Michigan, the Wolverines appear to be set at linebacker with Mike McCray and Ben Gedeon.

ESPN released its first top 150 recruiting rankings for the class of 2013 on Tuesday. Amazingly, the rankings include 11 of Michigan's 17 commits. The Wolverines lead the nation in the number of commits in the top 150. The next closest schools are Texas and Florida with seven commits each, showing how good of a start Michigan is off to.
Here's a rundown of the Michigan commits in the ESPN 150 and where they are ranked: QB Shane Morris (37th), CB Gareon Conley (63rd), LB Mike McCray (75th), OL David Dawson (92nd), OL Logan Tuley-Tillman (97th), S Dymonte Thomas (98th), OL Chris Fox (105th), CB Jourdan Lewis (107th), OL Kyle Bosch (112th), DE Taco Charlton (115th) and OL Patrick Kugler (121st).
All five of Michigan's offensive line commits made the ESPN 150. That is pretty amazing, especially when you add in the fact that the Wolverines have a quarterback commit ranked in the top 40.
As far as star rankings go, Michigan has 15 four-star recruits. The Wolverines' other two recruits have three stars. By comparison, Michigan had only 11 four-star recruits on ESPN for all of 2012. It's only April and Michigan is up to 15 four-star recruits for 2013.
In the state of Michigan, the top three players (Morris, Dawson and Lewis) are committed to Michigan, as are No. 7 Khalid hill and No. 8 Wyatt Shallman.
In the state of Ohio, four of the top six players are committed to Michigan (Conley, McCray, Thomas and Charlton). Michigan wide receiver commit Jaron Dukes is 10th, and the Wolverines have three more commits in the next 10 spots. This means that all eight of Michigan's commits from Ohio are ranked in the top 20 in the state.
For more on the Michigan Wolverines, check out Maize n Brew. You can also head over to SB Nation's main NCAA Football hub at SBNation.com/NCAA-Football.
Michigan has picked up a commitment from Ohio linebacker Ben Gedeon, according to Sam Webb. Gedeon had been rumored to be strongly leaning toward committing to Michigan for the past couple months, and now he is set to be a member of the Wolverines' 2013 recruiting class.
Gedeon is a consensus four-star linebacker. He is the eighth-ranked linebacker on Rivals, which has him 224th overall in the nation. Scout has him 13th at linebacker. In the state of Ohio, 24/7 Sports has Gedeon 14th.
According to Rivals, Gedeon holds offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Stanford, Tennessee, Boston College and Virginia, among other schools.
Gedeon is Michigan's second linebacker commit for 2013. The other linebacker currently committed to the Wolverines is Mike McCray, who is also a four-star recruit.

On Saturday, Michigan gained a commitment from Ohio running back Deveon Smith. He is Michigan's second running back commit for 2013 (Wyatt Shallman is the other) and their 16th overall commit.
Smith is a four-star recruit on Scout and is ranked seventh at running back. 24/7 Sports gives him three stars, and ESPN has him on its 150 watch list. Currently, Smith is unrated on Rivals.
According to Rivals, Smith holds offers from Michigan, Ohio State, West Virginia, Indiana and Bowling Green.
How Smith's commitment will affect the recruitment of running back Ty Isaac will be interesting to see. Smith and Isaac have been Michigan's top targets at running back, but with Smith in the fold, the Wolverines may be done at the position. Also, it's possible that Isaac may look elsewhere with two running backs now in the 2013 class.

On Friday, Ohio cornerback Gareon Conley said on Twitter that he was planning to commit on Saturday. He delivered on that tweet while in Ann Arbor on Saturday for a visit with the Michigan Wolverines. Conley decided to commit to the Wolverines while on campus, and by doing so he became their 15th verbal for 2013 and their second this week. (Mike McCray committed to Michigan on Tuesday.)
Conlon has not yet been rated by Rivals, but he does have stars on Scout and 24/7 Sports. Specifically, Scout considers him a four-star cornerback, whereas 24/7 Sports gives him three stars. On Scout, he is ranked as the 20th cornerback in the nation. Overall, he is ranked 227th in the nation on Scout, giving Michigan a total of 13 commits in the top 300.
24/7 Sports reports that Conley has offers from four schools: Michigan, Northwestern, West Virginia and Toledo.
As mentioned, Michigan is now up to 15 commits for 2013. The most amazing thing about how quickly the Wolverines have put together most of their 2013 class is that they didn't have a single commit for their 2012 class at this time last year. A big part of that was because Brady Hoke was only in his second month on the job. Now, with a full year to prepare for the 2013 class, Michigan is close to filling it up 11 months before signing day.

Michigan is cleaning up in recruiting, nabbing 12 Rivals.com four-star recruits in its class of 2013. All the hoopla surrounding their commitments has former Michigan wide receiver Braylon Edwards peeved the Wolverines haven't called on his younger brother Berkley, who appears to be pretty dirty [via Yahoo!]:
"I don't understand how my brother has the 8th (fastest) time in the country in the 60m, ran for 1800 yards last year and 20 and UofM wontcall," Edwards Tweeted. [...]
"Love my school and I played for coach (Hoke) but call my brother before its too late and you guys miss out like Lloyd would have ifnot forsoup,"
Berkley doesn't even have a star rating on Rivals or Scout, despite having a 4.52 40-yard dash time and over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns in his junior season.
Michigan could still offer Berkley (after all, Michigan didn't come calling for Braylon until midway through his senior high school season). However, if there's one thing working against Berkley winding up in Maize n' Blue, it's his big brother Braylon, who can't seem to do anything right these days. This is just another instance of that.
If not Michigan, it's possible that Berkley winds up at Michigan's intrastate rival -- Michigan State hosted Berkely last week at one of its junior days.
Scout released its top 300 rankings on Wednesday, and Michigan fans should be extremely pleased with them. The Wolverines have four players in the top 50, three of whom are five-star recruits. Here's the breakdown on them:
Overall, Michigan has a total of 12 players in the top 300. Here are the other eight: OG Chris Fox (137), TE Jake Butt (147), OT Logan Tuley-Tillman (153), FB Wyatt Shallman (179), OLB Mike McCray (202), CB Jourdan Lewis (251), OG David Dawson (264) and WR Jaron Dukes (287). Of those eight players, only Lewis, Dawson and Dukes are three-star recruits; the rest are four-star players.
To say the least, Michigan has put together quite the recruiting class for 2013 and it's only March 2012. The same goes for Ohio State, and here's a great stat showing how dominant the two schools have been on the recruiting trail:
Among the top 150, Michigan has 6 prospects, Ohio State 5 and the rest of the Big Ten has 0. War, as they know it.
— Kyle Meinke (@kmeinke) March 7, 2012
Watch out, rest of Big Ten. Watch out.

Ohio linebacker Mike McCray has committed to Michigan. He was in Ann Arbor on Tuesday and made the decision to commit while there, giving the Wolverines 14 commitments for 2013 and another one from a highly rated recruit.
McCray is ranked 44th in the nation by Rivals. He is a four-star outside linebacker and is also a four-star recruit on 24/7 Sports. He's 168th in the nation on 24/7 Sports and eighth in the state of Ohio. On ESPN, he is on the 150 watch list, as are 10 other Michigan commits.
According to Rivals, McCray holds offers from Michigan, Arizona, Boston College, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Purdue, South Carolina and Tennessee, among other schools.
McCray could end up being merely the first linebacker Michigan picks up this week, as the Wolverines are believed to be in good shape with Ben Gedeon. They also lead for guys like Dorian O'Daniel and E.J. Levenberry, although neither is expected to make a decision in the near future. Even so, Michigan is on track to have a very strong class again, especially at linebacker.

Michigan's 2012 football recruiting class featured a solid group of linebackers with Joe Bolden, Royce Jenkins-Stone, James Ross and Kaleb Ringer all signing. So far, Michigan's 2013 football recruiting class doesn't have any commits from linebackers, but that is expected to change in the coming months.
Michigan is in very good shape for several big-time linebackers, including Mike McCray, E.J. Levenberry and Dorian O'Daniel. In fact, Michigan is the "team to beat" for O'Daniel, according to his high school football team's Twitter account.
#Michigan is the team to beat for #GC 2013 Dorian O'Daniel followed by #Clemson and now possibly #Nebraska
— GC Football (@gcfootball) March 2, 2012
O'Daniel goes to Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Maryland. That is the same high school that current Michigan cornerback Blake Countess attended. It's also the high school for some other highly rated 2013 recruits, including cornerback Kendall Fuller, who has a Michigan offer.
O'Daniel is a consensus four-star linebacker and is ranked 37th in the nation by Rivals. Obviously he would be a nice pickup for Michigan, and he is set to visit Ann Arbor for the Wolverines' spring game on April 14 (along with Fuller).

Michigan has done it again. For the 10th time in the last week, a 2013 football recruit has committed to the Wolverines. The newest commit is offensive guard Patrick Kugler, who is from Wexford, Pennsylvania. Kugler was just in town for a visit and decided to commit to Michigan. He was originally scheduled to visit Michigan State's junior day, but with him committing to Michigan, the trip to East Lansing did not happen.
Like the four offensive linemen who committed to Michigan last weekend, Kugler is a four-star recruit. He is ranked 54th in the nation on Rivals and is 190th overall on 24/7 Sports, which has him fourth in the state of Pennsylvania. He is on ESPN's Top 150 watch list, as are eight other Michigan commits.
Kugler, who is the son of Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Sean Kugler, boasts an impressive offer list. According to Rivals, he has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Arizona, Boise State, California, Florida, Florida State, Iowa, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Washington, among other schools.
Tom VanHaaren reports that Kugler will play offensive guard or center for Michigan, and according to Sam Webb, Kugler is the final offensive linemen Michigan is planning to take for its 2013 class. With five committed for 2013 and four in the 2012 class, the Wolverines appear to be set. Amazingly, of those nine offensive line commits for 2013 and 2012, seven are four-star recruits, one is a five-star recruit and only one is a three-star recruit. That bodes quite well for Michigan's offensive line going forward.

By adding nine new commits for 2013 in the last week (eight last weekend and one earlier this week), Michigan has seen its team ranking skyrocket on 24/7 Sports. The recruiting service last updated its team rankings for 2013 on Friday afternoon, and Michigan is No. 1 in the nation right now thanks to having a total of 12 commits, 10 of whom are four-star recruits.
Jaron Dukes' decision to commit to Michigan earlier this week vaulted the Wolverines ahead of Texas A&M, which had been holding steady at No. 1 despite having only five four-star commits. The Aggies remained in first thanks to having 13 total commits for 2013. With Michigan now only one behind in the total number of commits and way ahead in terms of how many of those commits have four stars, it's no surprise the Wolverines are now No. 1 in the nation.
The other three teams in the top five are Florida, Alabama and Texas. These teams are always seemingly at the top of the recruiting rankings, as are Georgia, LSU and Florida State, the next three schools in the rankings. North Carolina and Ohio State round out the top 10. (Michigan State is 19th right now in the rankings.)
Obviously recruiting rankings don't mean a whole lot right now considering there is almost a year until signing day for the class of 2013. Even so, Michigan's current spot at the top of the 2013 team rankings is a testament to how strong of a start Brady Hoke and company are off to for next year's class.
At this time a week ago, Michigan had only three commits for its 2013 football recruiting class. Now, after adding eight over the weekend and one on Wednesday, the Wolverines are up to 12 commits for 2013.
The latest commit for Michigan is wide receiver Jaron Dukes, who is from Columbus, Ohio. He is a lifelong fan of Michigan and decided to commit to his favorite school on Wednesday, according to Sam Webb.
Columbus Marion-Franklin HS WR Jaron Dukes has pledged to #Michigan
— Sam Webb (@SamWebb77) February 22, 2012
Unlike the eight commits from the weekend, Dukes is not a four-star recruit (at least not yet). He is unrated on Rivals, Scout and ESPN, and on 24/7 sports he is a three-star receiver ranked 63rd at his position and 28th in the state of Ohio.
According to Rivals, Dukes holds offers from Michigan, Illinois and Toledo.

Going into the weekend, the expectation was for Michigan to add a couple commits to its 2013 football recruiting class. Several recruits were set to visit Michigan on Saturday and take in the basketball game against Ohio State that night. The excitement surrounding the game, as well as getting some big-time recruits on campus, made fans think there would be some new commitments.
As it turns out, there were a lot of new commitments, especially on Saturday. The Wolverines got their momentum going on Saturday afternoon with Illinois offensive tackle Kyle Bosch surprisingly committing. Shortly after, Michigan running back Wyatt Shallman joined Bosch, giving fans more reasons to joke about all of the team's commits coming in pairs.
This notion continued later in the afternoon when two players from Detroit Cass Tech High School committed to Michigan. Cornerback Jourdan Lewis and offensive tackle David Dawson became the third and fourth recruits to commit on the day and the sixth and seventh commits overall to join the class.
At this point, it seemed like Michigan's day was probably done, but after the Wolverines upset Ohio State, two more players joined the 2013 class. Michigan got Colorado offensive tackle Chris Fox, who wasn't even on campus, to commit. And later in the night the Wolverines added Ohio defensive end Taco Charlton, who was at the Ohio State game and could be seen having a lot of fun.
After Saturday's six commitments, Michigan kept the momentum going on Sunday with two more additions to its 2013 class. Ohio tight end Jake Butt committed shortly after 7 p.m., and two hours later Illinois offensive tackle Logan Tuley-Tillman surprisingly decided to end his recruitment by verballing to Michigan.
In total, Michigan secured the commitments of eight recruits over the weekend. All eight of them are considered four-star recruits, giving Michigan a total of 10 so far for 2013. The Wolverines have 11 total commits and are well on their way to once again finishing with one of the top recruiting classes in the nation. Assuming they are again near the top of the recruiting rankings come signing day next year, this past weekend will be pointed to as a big reason behind Michigan's success.

At this point I think it's safe to say that this has been the best weekend in Michigan football recruiting history. After already picking up seven commitments on Saturday and Sunday, the Wolverines added an eighth Sunday night when Illinois offensive tackle Logan Tuley-Tillman verballed. He announced his decision to commit on Twitter: "Officially a Wolverine & better yet a Michigan Man."
Tuley-Tillman, like the other seven new commitments, is a four-star recruit. He is 109th in the nation on Rivals and 85th on 24/7 Sports. The latter has him 13th at his position and sixth in the state of Illinois.
Tuley-Tillman's offer list is very impressive. According to Rivals, he holds offers from Michigan, Alabama, Arkansas, Boston College, Florida State, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Wisconsin, among several other schools.
I suppose nothing should be a surprise after the weekend Michigan had, but the timing of his commitment came a bit out of left field. Although Tuley-Tillman has visited Michigan numerous times, his timetable seemed to be based on taking his time with the recruiting process. Also, he was at Wisconsin this weekend, making it seem unlikely that he would suddenly commit to Michigan. That is exactly what happened, though.
To recap, Michigan now has 11 commitments for 2013. The Wolverines went into the weekend with only three, but they added six new commits on Saturday and two on Sunday. The most amazing part is all eight of the new commits are four-star recruits, giving Michigan 10 so far for the 2013 class.

Michigan's ridiculous run on the recruiting trail continued on Sunday with yet another commitment. After picking up six commitments on Saturday (all from four-star recruits), the Wolverines added Ohio tight end Jake Butt on Sunday.
Officially a wolverine!!! #goblue
— jake butt (@bigjakeyB_1) February 20, 2012
Butt, like the six commits from Saturday, is a four-star recruit. Rivals ranks him 96th in the nation. In the state of Ohio, 24/7 Sports has Butt 15th. ESPN has him on the ESPNU Top 150 list, giving Michigan seven commits for 2013 on that list.
Butt has an extensive offer list. According to Rivals, he has offers from Michigan, Boston College, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA and Wisconsin, among other schools.
With Butt verballing, Michigan is up to 10 commits for 2013. Butt joins the six from Saturday (Kyle Bosch, Wyatt Shallman, Jourdan Lewis, David Dawson, Chris Fox and Taco Charlton) and the three who were previously committed (Shane Morris, Dymonte Thomas and Khalid Hill). Amazingly, nine of the 10 commits are four-star recruits.

Saturday is a day that will not soon be forgotten by Michigan fans. Not only did the Michigan basketball team beat Ohio State at home and the Michigan hockey team beat Northern Michigan in overtime on senior night, but Brady Hoke absolutely cleaned up on the recruiting trail.
As covered on Saturday afternoon, Michigan picked up four commits in rapid succession. Illinois offensive tackle Kyle Bosch was the first to pull the trigger on committing to Michigan, and Novi running back Wyatt Shallman committed shortly after. Then, not too long after the first two commitments of the day, Cass Tech teammates Jourdan Lewis (a cornerback) and David Dawson (an offensive tackle) verballed to the Wolverines.
The day appeared to be done following the commitments from Lewis and Dawson, but that turned out to not be the case at all. Michigan added Colorado offensive tackle Chris Fox and Ohio defensive end Taco Charlton on Saturday night, giving the Wolverines six commits on Saturday alone. It was a historically good day not only because of the amount of new commits, but also because of their caliber. All of them are consensus four-star recruits, including Fox and Charlton.
Fox is considered the 46th best player in the nation by Rivals. He is 48th in the nation on 24/7 Sports and ranks eighth at his position and first for the state of Colorado. ESPN hasn't rated him yet, but he is on the ESPNU 150 list.
Charlton is also on the ESPNU 150 list. He is ranked 183rd nationally on Rivals and 143rd nationally on 24/7 Sports. The latter site has him sixth in the state of Ohio.
Fox's offer list includes Michigan, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio State and Purdue, according to Rivals. Also according to Rivals, Charlton has offers from Michigan, Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Syracuse and UCLA.
With Fox and Charlton jumping aboard, Michigan now has nine commits for its 2013 football recruiting class. Amazingly, eight of them are four-star recruits ranked in the top 200 on Rivals. Signing day for 2013 is obviously a long ways away, but Brady Hoke has the Wolverines off to one of the best starts in the country for next year's class.

To say Saturday has been a busy day for Michigan's 2013 football recruiting class would be an understatement. Michigan has now picked up a total of four commitments on Saturday alone. Two of them, Kyle Bosch and Wyatt Shallman, committed earlier in the day. Since then it has come out that cornerback Jourdan Lewis and offensive tackle David Dawson, who both go to Detroit Cass Tech High School, have also committed to the Wolverines.
Lewis is a four-star cornerback on both Rivals and 24/7 Sports. The former ranks him 167th nationally. Scout and ESPN have not yet rated him.
Dawson is also a four-star recruit on Rivals and 24/7 Sports. Rivals ranks him 199th in the country, and like with Lewis, Scout and ESPN have not yet handed out a rating for him.
According to Rivals, Lewis holds offers from Michigan and Toledo. Dawson's offer list is much lengthier, as it includes Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, UCLA and West Virginia, among other schools.
With Michigan adding two more recruits from Cass Tech, its pipeline with the school continues. For the 2012 class, Michigan got commitments from Cass Tech's Terry Richardson and Royce Jenkins-Stone, who will be joining former Cass Tech players William Campbell, Thomas Gordon and Delonte Hollowell on the roster next season.
With the wild day of recruiting, Michigan's 2013 class now stands at seven commits, six of whom are considered four-star recruits. I'd say Brady Hoke and company are off to a pretty good start for next year's class.

That didn't take long. Shortly after it came out that Michigan picked up a commitment from Illinois offensive tackle Kyle Bosch, news dropped that the Wolverines also picked up running back Wyatt Shallman. Shallman hails from Novi and attends Detroit Catholic Central, and although he plays both sides of the ball, the expectation is for him to line up in the backfield for Michigan.
Shallman, like Bosch, is a consensus four-star recruit. Rivals ranks him 160th in the nation and 24/7 Sports has him 181st. Scout has him as a four-star recruit and ESPN has him in its ESPNU 150, although both sites list him as a defensive end rather than a running back (or fullback).
According to Rivals, Shallman has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati and Syracuse.
With Shallman and Bosch both committing to Michigan on Saturday, the Wolverines now have five commits for 2013.

From the sounds of it, Michigan could have a pretty busy day as it relates to its 2013 football recruiting class. Several recruits are on campus for visits, and already one recruit for 2013 has committed to Michigan on Saturday -- Illinois offensive tackle Kyle Bosch.
Bosch is a consensus four-star recruit on the sites that have rated him. Rivals has him 60th in the nation, whereas 24/7 Sports has him 44th in the nation (and third in the state of Illinois). Scout hasn't rated Bosch yet, and ESPN has him in its ESPNU 150.
According to Rivals, Bosch has quite the offer list. It includes Michigan, Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Illinois, Iowa, Miami (Florida), Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Stanford and West Virginia, among other schools.
According to Allen Trieu, Bosch won't be Michigan's only commitment on Saturday.

Michigan isn't completely finished with its 2012 football recruiting class with Alex Kozan still undecided, but the Wolverines have turned most of their focus to 2013. Actually, they have been working on their 2013 class for a while now. The Wolverines have had two commitments for 2013 since last September, and they added No. 3 on Monday when Khalid Hill immediately verballed after being offered a scholarship.
Hill is a tight end/defensive end from Detroit Crockett High School. According to Allen Trieu, Michigan will use him as a tight end/H-back. 24/7 Sports, the only site to evaluate him so far, rates him as a three-star tight end.
Before Michigan offered him on Monday, Hill's only offer was from Central Michigan. Once the Wolverines did extend an offer, it didn't take Hill long to accept it because he is a lifelong Michigan fan, according to Trieu. He joins Shane Morris and Dymonte Thomas as recruits committed to Michigan for 2013.

Following Michigan's thrilling 35-31 victory over Notre Dame on Saturday, the Wolverines picked up a commitment from Ohio safety Dymonte Thomas. He was at the game as part of an unofficial visit, and he was so impressed with Michigan that he decided to end his recruitment and pick the Wolverines.
Since Thomas is a 2013 recruit, he hasn't been evaluated by any of the recruiting sites just yet. When he is rated, the expectation is for Thomas to be ranked as one of the top recruits in the state of Ohio for 2013. Michigan's other 2013 commit, Shane Morris, is expected to be one of the top players in all of the country, so Brady Hoke and company are really off to a great start for the 2013 class.
Thomas' offer list already includes Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, UCLA and West Virginia. Ohio State has not offered Thomas yet, and now that he is a Michigan commit, it's not clear if the Buckeyes will extend a scholarship to him.
One thing worth noting is that Thomas is the cousin of Bri'onte Dunn, a 2012 running back recruit who is committed to Ohio State. Michigan is still trying to get Dunn to decommit from OSU to join the Wolverines' recruiting class, and I'm sure Thomas will be in Dunn's ear quite a bit now that he is set to head to Ann Arbor in two years.

Friday in Columbus, 2013 Michigan football commit Shane Morris turned some heads at the Elite 11 regional camp. He wasn't turning heads just because he was wearing maize and blue in enemy territory, but also because of how he did during the camp.
There was a lot of positive buzz surrounding Morris following his performance at the camp. Morris himself said he was ranked No. 2 out of all the quarterbacks at the camp, which is pretty good for only being a sophomore in high school.
Here's what ESPN had to say about Morris' performance:
Morris was one of the more impressive prospects in attendance regardless of class and the left-hander really made some impressive throws with accuracy and confidence. He has good height and is going to continue to add inches and bulk to his late-bloomer's frame. What stood out about Morris was the velocity and power and the manner in which he delivered the ball. Many lefties can really have a long, drawn out delivery that is more ¾ or sidearm, but not Morris. He had a quick stroke, was very accurate and threw as well on the run to both sides as any prospect on Friday. He is a definite Watch List candidate.
Morris will be a junior at De Le Salle High School this fall.
Brady Hoke and the Michigan football program have gotten off to a scorching hot start with their 2012 recruiting class. The momentum generated by Hoke has led to 10 total commits for the 2012 class already. It also has led to one commit for the 2013 class. Warren De La Salle quarterback Shane Morris decided to go ahead and pledge to become a Wolverine on Tuesday, ending his recruitment well before anybody expected.
Since Morris is a 2013 recruit, he has not been evaluated yet by any of the major recruiting sites. When he is a year from now, it is expected that Morris will be ranked as one of the top pro-style quarterbacks for the 2013 class.
Morris' offer list includes Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Syracuse and a few schools from the MAC. Chances are his offer list will grow quite a bit by this time next year, although some schools may not see it as worth the time to recruit him since he is already committed to Michigan.
