It wasn't pretty, but Michigan won the 2012 Sugar Bowl, defeating the Virginia Tech Hokies 23-20 in overtime.
Virginia Tech actually dominated the game, outgaining the Wolverines 377-184, but Michigan took advantage of Hokie miscues and a few calls that went in their favor.
One of those favorable calls came in the top half of the first overtime on a touchdown grab by Danny Coale. Well, it was called a touchdown, but then overturned upon review.

On the very next play, Hokies kicker Justin Myer missed his first of five field goals in the game. Myer's miss allowed the Wolverines to play for the game-winning field goal. After three running plays, Brendan Gibbons drilled the winner from the same distance Myer missed his:
