As expected, Michigan is going to wear alternate jerseys for its season-opening game against Alabama. The jerseys were unveiled on Monday night, and they have quite a nontraditional look. Here's a picture of them:↵
Although the picture doesn't reflect it, Michigan will have numbers on its helmets for the Alabama game. After the season opener, however, Michigan is suspending the use of helmet numbers. They are going to add an American flag to the back of the helmet and change the paint that is used for the wings to "highlight the most recognizable helmet in college football and create a more durable surface," but there will no longer be helmet numbers after the Alabama game.↵
Michigan is planning to wear its traditional uniforms the rest of the season, although another alternate design may be introduced for a bowl game. The only change to the Wolverines' traditional uniforms is the addition of the Big Ten logo, which is something all teams in the conference are doing starting in 2012.
