Michigan's Frank Clark Pleads Guilty To Felony Home Invasion Charge

Two days after making his 2012 debut against Air Force, Michigan defensive end Frank Clark pled guilty to a second-degree felony home invasion charge on Tuesday at a Washtenaw County Circuit Court.

The 6'2, 262-pound sophomore admitted to Judge Donald Shelton that he knowingly walked into another student's room at a campus residence hall and stole the student's laptop back on Jun. 14. Due to the fact that he had no prior arrests however, Clark was sentenced under the Holmes Youthful Training Act (HYTA) and can actually have the charge expunged from his record if he stays out of trouble for one calendar year.

Clark made an immediate impact with four tackles (two for loss) and one pass deflection in his debut against the Falcons on Saturday, even though it's difficult to know if this situation served as a wake-up call or not. Another transgression under Brady Hoke's watch would likely spell the end of Clark's career at Michigan, so the talented defender will definitely need to keep his act together if he wants to stay in Ann Arbor.

Fitzgerald Toussaint, Frank Clark To Play Against Air Force

The Michigan Wolverines certainly struggled on Saturday against the Alabama Crimson Tide, provided you can call such a beatdown a "struggle." Two of their players were absent in the game, though it is unlikely it would have changed the outcome in the end. Still, Stephen J. Nesbitt is reporting via Twitter that both running back Fitzgerald Toussaint and defensive end Frank Clark will play this week against Air Force.

Toussaint was suspended for one game due to an arrest for drunk driving, though he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge last week. He's the team's starting running back and it was thought for awhile that he might actually play against Alabama, before it was announced on Friday that he would not.

Clark also served a one-game suspension for his involvement in an alleged laptop theft.

Toussaint had 1,041 yards on the ground a season ago and was certainly missed by the Wolverines, even if his presence wouldn't have changed the final outcome of Saturday's game. Michigan will take on Air Force at 3:30 p.m. eastern on Saturday at Michigan Stadium.

Fitzgerald Toussaint, Frank Clark Will Not Travel, Play Vs. Alabama

Michigan announced Friday that running back Fitzgerald Toussaint and defensive end Frank Clark will not travel to Dallas nor play against Alabama on Saturday night.

Toussaint was suspended after being arrested for drunken driving, and he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge on Tuesday. Clark was suspended for his involvement in an alleged laptop theft. Both are expected to be available for Week 2.

Toussaint led Michigan running backs and was second on the team with 1,041 yards on the ground last year.

Head coach Brady Hoke said in a release that the decision was made in the best interest of the program and the players themselves, according to the Detroit Free Press.

"The decision was not easy, but I feel it is in the best interest of this program and for these kids, and those always will be my priorities. We have choices every day, and you have to be accountable to this program, your teammates, your family and the University of Michigan. […]

"They are good young men who made poor choices, and we will continue to support them as members of our team and family."

Michigan takes on Alabama at 8 p.m. Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium.

Michigan Vs. Alabama: Status Of Fitzgerald Toussaint, Frank Clark Still Unclear

The Michigan Wolverines haven't decided whether or not to play running back Fitzgerald Toussaint and defensive end Frank Clark in the team's season opener against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sept. 1, as Kyle Meinke of MLive writes. The two players are currently suspended for off-field behavior by head coach Brady Hoke.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Hoke said that he's still undecided on whether or not to keep both players suspended. They're both currently practicing with the team in anticipation of the biggest game of college football's opening weekend, but Hoke still refuses to say whether or not they'll play.

Toussaint is the bigger absence as Michigan's starting running back, but Clark is also an important player as a backup defensive end. They're both suspended for offseason arrests, but Hoke seems to be seriously considering the idea of playing one or both of them on Saturday.

Michigan Football's Fitzgerald Toussaint, Frank Clark To Practice Monday

Suspended by the team after a pair of off-the-field incidents this summer, Michigan football players Fitzgerald Toussaint and Frank Clark were both officially cleared to practice by head coach Brady Hoke during Sunday's media day.

While Hoke has yet to announce specific punishments for each player leading up to Michigan's Sept. 1 opener against Alabama, this news was the next logical step for the program to get out of the way as the season draws closer. Toussaint, projected as not only Michigan's starting tailback but one of the most dynamic runners in the Big Ten, was picked up for drunken driving in July, while Clark is being accused of second-degree home invasion stemming from a dorm room laptop theft.

Although it's clear that both guys will be needed in a big way against Nick Saban's dangerous Alabama squad in order for Michigan to pull out a win, Hoke is expected to levee at least a moderate slap on the wrist for such a pivotal game. How the two players conduct themselves in the coming days could very well determine how long they each sit out on Sept. 1, so it's important for the program as a whole to know both guys will be back at practice on Monday.
