Michigan's leading returning receiver Roy Roundtree had successful arthroscopic surgery on his knee on Friday according to head coach Brady Hoke, and should be back on the practice field at the end of August barring a setback:

Roundtree remains in line to open the season against Alabama on September 1, but may only be able to practice for a handful of days before being thrust into action. Expected to once again serve as the No. 1 pass-catching weapon in quarterback Denard Robinson's offensive arsenal, Roundtree reportedly felt fine after Friday's procedure.

"Everything went great, and he feels great," Hoke told ESPN.com's Michel Rothstein. "It's one of those things he didn't do it practicing. Just needed to get it done and felt it a little bit walking back to the huddle."

With uncertainty surrounding the statuses of Michigan players Fitzgerald Toussaint and Frank Clark for the Alabama game after a pair of offseason arrests, the Wolverines will surely need to hope that Roundtree is fully healthy and capable of being at his best against a stout Crimson Tide secondary.
