The Detroit Pistons got off to a good start and briefly led Friday against the Phoenix Suns, but trail, 54-46, at halftime.

Jason Maxiell helped the Pistons get off to a strong start, scoring 11 points in the game's first seven minutes. He has 13 points and two rebounds in the half.

Andre Drummond also saw action and had more of an impact than he did in his NBA debut Wednesday. Drummond had two points, five rebounds and two blocks in the first half. Jonas Jerebko scored nine points off the bench and Tayshaun Prince also has nine. The Pistons are shooting 43 percent for the half.

Defense has been an issue for the Pistons as Phoenix is getting a lot of open shots from the perimeter. The Suns are shooting 45 percent and 40 percent from three-point range. Four Suns are in double figures. Luis Scola has 13 and Michael Beasley, Marcin Gortat and Goran Dragic have scored 10 each.
