Pistons vs. Thunder: Detroit still looking for first win

Ed Szczepanski-US PRESSWIRE

The Pistons will try to beat one of the best teams in the NBA for their first win Friday night.

The winless Detroit Pistons will have a big test on their hands when they travel to play the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night.

The Pistons are 0-5 early in the 2012-13 season. Detroit is coming off a close loss – a loss, nonetheless – against the Sacramento Kings, 105-103, on Wednesday night. Friday night's game is Detroit's fifth game in a row on the road. The Pistons' road trip finishes Saturday at Houston. They will host the Thunder on Monday in just their second home game of the season.

Oklahoma City started the season slowly, but has now won two in a row and is 3-2. The Thunder edged the Chicago Bulls, 97-91, on Thursday night.

With five games in the books, Greg Monroe has been Detroit's best source of offense. The 6'11 center is averaging 16 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Jason Maxiell and Jonas Jerebko have chipped in 10.8 points per game.

Kevin Durant, of course, is the Thunder's No. 1 threat. Durant is averaging 21.5 points per game this season and 10.6 rebounds. Russell Westbrook makes the offense flow, averaging 19.8 points and eight assists per game.
