ALCS 2012: Tigers' Quintin Berry says Yankee Stadium is 'very easy place to play now'

The Yankees' attendance woes helped make for a good trip for the Tigers.

The Detroit Tigers left the Bronx with a 2-0 series lead over the New York Yankees in the ALCS, which may be partly due to a lackluster showing from Yankees fans. Yankee Stadium was pocked with empty seats in the series' first two games, and despite its reputation as one of the toughest venues in baseball, Detroit Tigers outfielder Quintin Berry said that it was not a hostile environment.

"This is a very easy place to play now," Tigers outfielder Quintin Berry said. "Coming from Oakland, the fans there were so rowdy. It was easier to come here."

The lack of solid attendance for the ALCS is just one on a list of issues that are plaguing the Yankees at the moment, with historic slumps from stars like Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson the most paramount.

New York will have a chance to turn its momentum around on Tuesday when the two teams get back on the field in Detroit for Game 3 of the series. That could light some inspiration in the New York fan base, but with the Tigers up 2-0 and with three games to be played in Detroit, the Yankees may have played their last home game of 2012.
