Detroit can thank their dominant starting pitching for this record, as they have absolutely shut down New York's offense over the five-game span.

This streak dates back to last year's ALDS, when the Tigers beat the Yankees 3-2 in Game 5 to advance to the ALCS. In fact, the Tigers have won the last three postseason series between the two teams, as they defeated the Yankees 3-1 in the 2006 ALDS.

Considering how long the Yankees have been around, this is a pretty remarkable stat. While it's true that the Yankees are one of the most successful franchises in all of sports, it's still hard to believe that at some point during their history no other team won more than four playoff games in a row against them.
