Doug Fister and the Tigers will face off against Giants lefty Madison Bumgarner on Thursday in a pivotal Game 2 at AT&T Park.
Following a tough 8-3 loss to open the series, the Detroit Tigers will try to even things up with the hometown San Francisco Giants in Game 2 of the 2012 World Series on Thursday evening.
Detroit's 6'8 right-hander Doug Fister will get the ball from manager Jim Leyland, as the sinker-ball specialist hopes to put forth a much more complete performance than his teammate Justin Verlander produced in Game 1. Fister sports a 1.35 ERA over two postseason starts, despite not earning a decision, and he will need to remain atop his game on Thursday night against a red-hot San Francisco lineup.
Fresh off his three-homer effort on Wednesday, Giants slugger Pablo Sandoval will once again bat third and hold down the third base slot for San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy. Eager to continue their torrid pace at the plate against right-handed pitching, the Giants will feature the exact same lineup they trotted out for Game 1.
