Major League Baseball has a released a new logo to commemorate Miguel Carbrera's Triple Crown title.
Miguel Cabrera clinched the first Triple Crown batting title since 1967 on Wednesday by posting the highest batting average (.330) and the most home runs (44) and RBIs (139) in the American League, and Major League Baseball quickly released a special logo honoring the achievement:
The Detroit Tigers' slugger doesn't get much time to bask in his glory, as the Tigers must prepare to take on the Oakland Athletics in the 2012 American League Division Series, which is set to begin 6:07 p.m. Saturday at Comerica Park. Aside from any postseason honors he may earn, Cabrera might also have some additional regular season accolades coming his way.
He has been locked in a tight race with Angels outfielder Mike Trout for AL MVP honors, but the combination of a Triple Crown title and a playoff berth (Trout and the Angels did not make the playoffs) might be enough to sway voters who don't look at advanced stats such as Wins Above Replacement.
