Henrik Zetterberg, Jan Mursak, Niklas Kronwall, Jakub Kindl and Johan Franzen each added a goal for Detroit, which received 16 saves from starter Thomas McCollum and three from Joey MacDonald.
Mikhail Grabovski, Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak lit the lamp for Toronto, while Jussi Rynnas allowed all seven goals on 34 shots against.
