Lions' Stephen Peterman Fined By NFL For Late Hit

Detroit Lions offensive lineman Stephen Peterman was fined $7,500 for a late hit during last Sunday's contest with the New York Giants.

Peterman was one of 12 NFL players hit with a fine today, bringing the total for last Sunday to 15. It's part of the league's crackdown on violent hits that left 10 players with head and neck injuries last week.. Peterman hit Giants safety Antrel Rolle late after Rolle lined up Lions running back Kevin Smith during Detroit's 28-20 loss in the Meadowlands last week. Among the others fined included:

  • New Orleans CB Malcolm Jenkins, $10,000 for two separate hits.

  • Tennesse defensive players William Hayes and David Ball, $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.

  • Minnesota DE Ray Edwards, $20,000.

  • Houston players Wade Smith, Adewale Ogunleye and Bernard Pollard were each hit with $5,000 tabs.
