Michigan State Schedules Midnight Madness For Oct. 15

It's tough to even think about college basketball with everyone so entrenched in football season, but next week is Midnight Madness for Michigan State. Usually by this time of year many MSU fans are more than ready for the focus to turn to basketball, but with the way football season is shaping up, that's not the case this year. Even so, Midnight Madness should be a great night for the MSU basketball team, as it will be a celebration of last season and a preview of the 2010-11 team.

Here is the press release from Michigan State on the event:

Michigan State's annual Midnight Madness event to tip-off the 2010-11 basketball season will be held on Friday, Oct. 15. Spartan fans will have the opportunity to be a part of a banner ceremony as Michigan State will raise the 2010 Final Four banner to the rafters. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with the 2010 Big Ten and Final Four trophies. Doors to the Breslin Center will open at 9:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The event begins with autographs for Spartan fans on the Breslin Center concourse. The formal program will begin at 10:30 p.m. and feature the introduction of the men's and women's basketball teams. The evening will also include promotional giveaways and performances by the Spartan Marching Band, Michigan State cheerleaders, MSU dance team and Sparty. The evening will include a slam-dunk contest and conclude with the men's basketball team playing on the court.
