Pistons Trade Rumor Involving Will Bynum, Tayshaun Prince Untrue

A Detroit Pistons source has denied the team is looking to move Tayshaun Prince, Richard Hamilton or Will Bynum to the Atlanta Hawks.

Sekou Smith reported on his "Hang Time Blog" yesterday that the Pistons were looking to move a combination of the trio to Atlanta in exchange for Jamal Crawford and Jeff Teague, but reiterated it was just a rumor:

I explained to my scout friend that I heard a great trade rumor (and it was strictly that, a rumor) about the Hawks and Pistons discussing a package to swap Prince (and another piece like Will Bynum who cannot be moved until after Dec. 15) for Jamal Crawford and Jeff Teague.

A Pistons source immediately shot down that rumor, but that certainly won't quell the talks of a trade. Prince makes great trade bait because he's in the final year of his contract, and the Pistons would like to unload Hamilton's $12.6 million salary (which runs through 2012-13).

Detroit is guard heavy with both Hamilton and Ben Gordon getting starter money at the shooting guard position, along with reserves Bynum and Tracy McGrady fighting for minutes with Rodney Stuckey at the point. Prince would be the easiest to move of the three because of his contract, but it's my guess they'll make a heavy push to get rid of Hamilton before the trade deadline.
