The Tigers made some noise in the bottom of the eighth inning when they put runners on the corners with two outs, but Magglio Ordonez popped out in foul territory, ending the rally and keeping the deficit at 3-1.
Jake Westbrook gave way to Chris Perez, who got the final out of the inning. Westbrook put together a solid day of work, going 7 2/3 innings while giving up only five hits and one earned run. Westbrook struck out one batter and walked another.
Jeremy Bonderman put together a pretty solid outing himself, going eight innings and giving up nine hits and three earned runs. Bondo only struck out one batter, but the fact that he pitched eight innings is certainly a good sign.
