Magglio Ordonez 'Frustrated' By Left Oblique Soreness, Will Be Examined Friday

Jason Beck of MLBlogs.com reports that Detroit Tigers outfielder Magglio Ordonez was scratched from Thursday's starting lineup with "soreness in his left oblique area."  The scratch marked the third straight game Ordonez hasn't been able to take the field.

Tigers trainer Kevin Rand offered this report.

"He was better, but he wasn't 100 percent," Rand said. "And Magglio's too valuable a player to push him out there and lose him for two to three weeks if he's not 100 percent."

Rand is encouraged that Ordonez isn't sore in a specific point, which suggests nothing severe.

"But he's sore throughout the muscle," Rand continued. "He had it tighten up the other day. Obviously, Magglio was frustrated today."

Beck also writes that Ordonez will visit the team's physican on Friday.
