Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Justin Verlander went the distance, striking out a season-high 11, and Brennan Boesch homered and drove in four runs to power Detroit past Washington, 8-3, in the second of a three-game interleague set at Comerica Park.

Verlander (8-4) gave up seven hits and did not issue a walk in his second complete game of the season, as the Tigers won their fifth in a row.

Boesch had three hits and scored twice, while Gerald Laird drove in two runs to push Detroit to its seventh straight win at home.

Livan Hernandez (5-4) suffered the loss after yielding all eight runs on only seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. He walked six batters, four of whom came in to score, while fanning only two, as the Nats fell for a fourth time in their last five games.

Adam Dunn and Roger Bernadina belted solo home runs for Washington.
