Red Wings Sign Ken Holland, Jim Nill To Five-Year Extensions

The Red Wings have announced that general manager Ken Holland and assistant general manager Jim Nill will be with the team for at least five more years. The two both received five-year contract extensions from the Wings today in a move that was expected to happen for some time now.

Here are owner Mike Ilitch's comments on the decision to extend Holland and Nill:

"Kenny and Jim have been the core of our front office for well over a decade and cornerstone to this franchise's success," said Owner Mike Ilitch.  "Marian and I feel strongly that stability is key to success for any organization and having these new agreements in place with these two top-notch NHL executives is important to the Red Wings organization and its future.  They are committed professionals and outstanding individuals, and we have great respect for their respective talents.  We're pleased they will continue to lead our hockey club for the next five years."

Holland and Nill are some of the best in all of sports at what they do, so it's great that both will be around for years to come.
