Friday night was Dontrelle Willis's return to Detroit, as the Arizona Diamondbacks visited Comerica Park for a weekend series. He gave up five runs in five innings, getting no decision in a 7-5 loss to the Tigers.
↵The D-Train got a decent, if unnotable, ovation from the crowd. But what could really be expected? Regardless, Willis appreciated his time in Detroit, and wishes it could've gone differently.
↵From the Detroit Free Press:
↵↵↵"Everybody was nice to me, and maybe that was surprising," Willis said. "I have a lot of respect for this city. The guys (Tigers) do a good job of playing hard for the city, so the fans see I'm out there working hard, too, regardless of what the result is.
↵"I wish I could have played better here (as a Tiger), but I wish those guys all the best."
↵
We wish you'd have played better here too, D-Train. Believe us.
