C.C. Brown Front Runner To Start At Safety

The Detroit Lions secondary has been a problem for the past decade, but the Lions are hoping veteran C.C. Brown can solve some of those issues.

Brown has the inside track on starting opposite of sophomore Louis Delmas, but there are concerns that he won’t be able to learn the defense in time. But that shouldn’t be the overwhelming concern. Brown has had problems with busted assignments, a big reason the New York Giants let him go.

This is why the Lions need to focus on getting better on defense, either through the draft or free agency. For too many years they’ve relied on castoffs of other teams, and now the Lions are relying on a guy Giants fans dubbed “Can’t Cover” Brown.

The Lions started off the draft right, picking Ndamukong Suh second, but then went right back to offense and took Jahvid Best late in the first round. That’s especially frustrating when a potential franchise player like USC safety Taylor Mays dropped all the way to 49th overall.
