Austin Jackson Used As Defensive Replacement On Sunday

After missing five games due to back spasms, Austin Jackson made his triumphant return to the field as a defensive replacement in the 9th inning of Sunday’s game.

As Ryan said in the update before, the Tigers have been erring on side of caution with the promising rookie, but this kind of goes against that notion. The Tigers plugged a relatively cold Jackson into the CF position for the 9th inning when Jackson had been sitting for two-plus hours. I guess it should suggest his back’s feeling pretty good.

Jackson did not see any action, as the Diamondbacks did not get the ball out of the infield against Jose Valverde. The Tigers are off on Monday and Jackson should return to the starting lineup on Tuesday when Detroit takes on the Mets in New York.
