The NHL announced the salary cap for the 2010-11 season will be $59.4 million, an increase of $2.6 million from last year.
↵The Red Wings will benefit from this greatly, as they currently have $54.2 million committed to 18 players next year. At the very least they would like to re-sign restricted free agents Justin Abdelkader, Darren Helm, Drew Miller and Patrick Eaves.
↵GM Ken Holland is looking for a gritty fourth line forward and a veteran defenseman, but also wants to leave about $500K in cap space in case of an injury.
