Red Wings Take Riley Sheahan With 21st Pick

The Detroit Red Wings took Notre Dame center Riley Sheahan with the 21st pick the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, their highest selection since 2005.

Sheahan had a modest six goals and 11 assists last season for the Irish, but he's just a freshman and has plenty of upside. He turned 18 in December and can put a lot more muscle on his 6'2 200 pound frame in his remaining time at Notre Dame.

Sheahan's selection is the highest pick in the draft for Detroit since they took Jakub Kindl 19th overall in 2005. Kindl is now considered a good candidate to make the roster next season.
