WXYZ (Channel 7 in Detroit) is reporting that Lions president Tom Lewand has been arrested and released on suspicion of drunken driving. The arrest, according to WXYZ, happened yesterday in Roscommon County (near Houghton Lake).
Lewand has released a statement on the arrest, which can be seen below (via WXYZ's Tom Leyden).
Lewand Statement: Part 1 - "I am deeply sorry for my actions and take full responsibility for them. As a person in active recovery...
... I am committed to taking all necessary steps to insure nothing like this ever happens again."
Back in 2006, then-Lions defensive line coach Joe Cullen was arrested twice in the span of a week for DUI and driving through a Wendy's drive-thru naked. Cullen remained with the team despite the incidents and is now an assistant for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
