One Current Michigan Player, Two More Michigan Commits Drafted

The 2010 NHL Draft wrapped up on Saturday, and quite a few players with Michigan ties were selected.

As already mentioned, Jon Merrill, who is going to play at the University of Michigan next season, was drafted 38th overall by the New Jersey Devils. Another future Wolverine (class of 2011), Alex Guptill, ended up being drafted in the third round by the Dallas Stars (77th overall pick). Luke Moffatt, who will join Merrill at Michigan this fall, was selected in the seventh round by the Avalanche.

In addition to the three future Wolverines, Lee Moffie, a player already on the team, was selected as well (in the seventh round by the Sharks).

One other draftee worth mentioning is Brandon Archibald, who was picked by the Blue Jackets in the fourth round. Archibald, like Jack Campbell, is a Port Huron native, giving the city a total of two picks in this year's NHL Draft.
