Lewand Lied To Police During Stop

The police report detailing what happened during Tom Lewand's arrest is out, and aside from revealing that he blew a .21, it also mentioned that he lied to police when he was first pulled over.

According to the report, Lewand’s black SUV exited the parking lot of the Limberlost bar and was observed weaving on Route 55 near Houghton Lake High School.

When stopped by officers, Lewand told them he had not drank in a year and a half. He went on to say he was the designated driver and he had pulled into the Limberlost to pick a friend up and was headed to the “KOLO” dinner.

As the failed sobriety tests and breathalyzers later showed, Lewand had quite a bit to drink and was the opposite of a designated driver on Friday night. He was quite drunk, in fact, and there's no telling just how impaired he was when first pulled over. The report indicates that he was pulled over "shortly before midnight," and the first breathalyzer wasn't administered until 1:04 a.m., meaning his BAC was likely higher than .21 when he first got on the road.
