Earlier Monday, Tigers outfielder Magglio Ordonez insisted his sore left oblique wouldn’t keep him from playing in Monday night’s series opener vs. the Minnesota Twins. However, Ordonez apparently aggravated something during batting practice, because he’s not in the starting lineup.
Brennan Boesch takes over for Ordonez in right field. Ryan Raburn gets the starting nod in left. That puts Ramon Santiago back in the lineup. He was originally scheduled to get the night off, with Raburn starting at second base.
Ordonez has a .333/.360/.708 average (8-for-24) with two home runs and eight RBIs versus Monday night’s starting pitcher for Minnesota, Francisco Liriano.
