Rick Porcello Strong In First Mud Hens Outing

Rick Porcello was sent down to Triple-A Toledo two Sundays ago to "rehab" and work out the kinks he wasn't capable of doing with the big club. In his first start with the Mud Hens, he dominated the opposing hitters:

Toledo Mud Hens right-hander Rick Porcello allowed one run on one hit over eight innings Thursday night to pick up a 6-1 win over the Louisville Bats.

Porcello only walked one while striking out three in his sharp start. When he was with the Tigers this season, he was 4-7 with a 6.14 ERA.  He's expected to start again for the Hens on Tuesday, June 29, and there's no timetable on his return to the big league rotation.

It's certainly encouraging, though, to see him fix some things immediately. Who knows, maybe he had a Max Scherzer-like epiphany and he'll get the call back up after another strong outing on Tuesday night.
