Tigers Projected To Miss Out On Stephen Strasburg Mania

The long-anticipated MLB debut of Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg is set to take place on Tuesday when Washington hosts the Pirates. The Nats' series against the Pirates is their last against an NL team for a couple weeks because interleague play gets going again on Friday.

One of the teams the Nats will face during interleague play is our very own Detroit Tigers. That series is set for June 15-17 at Comerica Park, which begs the following question: Will the Tigers get to be a part of Stephen Strasburg mania? In a word, no.

Strasburg's first few projected starts, as reported by SB Nation DC, are set for June 8 (vs. Pirates), June 13 (at Cleveland), and June 19 (vs. White Sox). The Tigers' series against Washington is sandwiched in between Strasburg's second and third starts, which will come against AL Central teams. The Royals, like the Tigers, are also projected to be left out of Strasburg mania, as their series with the Nats will come in between the rookie phenom's third and fourth projected starts.
